Fahrenheit 87.8

Today is much cooler with a forecast of 31 Celsius. All the doors and windows are open and nice clean fresh air is blowing in. It seems an anticlimax. The fires are still burning, and many hectares (acres) burnt. The main fire is still out of control but “contained. The radio is off thankfully.

I think being contained inside because of high temperature and smoke, plus listening all day heightened the sense of catastrophe. Not to downplay the damage, loss of livestock, cats dogs wildlife. Not to downplay the efforts of volunteers and the fire service to save lives and protect property. But today is a new day.
