Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

The Parade, is the main shopping street in Norwood. It’s character has changed from a post second World War migrant suburb with interesting local shops, to one of inner city brand name glass and glitter. The locals miss the “old” character, the shoppers are concerned higher rents are driving out tenants and leaving empty shops. The future creates a tension with the past.

  1. Definitely something that is a common struggle in many places. Those who want ‘progress’ say the naysayers are afraid of change. Those who don’t want change say the progressives obliterate the past. If only one didn’t have to come at the price of the other…
