The Art Gallery of South Australia is hosting the “Turner From the Tate – the Making of a Master” exhibition through until the 19th May in Adelaide. We are indeed fortunate. In my earlier days I had no respect for Turner and Constable, too “boring”, now I have an appreciation of their art. They both lived in interesting times, the industrial revolution and associated social change, several interesting Kings, Napoleon, Nelson, Wellington and closing and opening of Europe. They both developed but held to their styles.
Turner was a consummate draughtsman and painter of light and emotion. Seeing these painting in real life was a delight and I will go back. My photos do not do justice, so please check better quality elsewhere.
Here are some photos of the day.
